Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and
where did you get started? How did you meet?
The band
was formed in early 2013, and we had our first gig in April of that year,
opening for Universe217. We actually know each other for a long time, but we
did not realise that we all share the passion for playing music till our first
rehearsal! Its funny, I know, but … Better late than never!!
Which are your musical influences?
Everyone in
the bad has his own.. There is no standard answer in that one. Everyone likes a
genre more than others. However we all love legends like Black Sabbath, Pink
Floyd, Led Zeppelin and all those that made rock and metal what it is today. If
you ask for favorite genres, well someone could say from heavy metal and
thrash, till progressive rock, blues and heavy rock.. We also like some
downtempo artists, electronic or trip hop, psychedelic trance and many more..

What are your lyrics about? What catches your
interest?
Most of our
lyrics talk about stories that are not real. You could obviously say that there
is a meaning behind a guy that wants to drink his ass off near the river, or a
barman in the worst bar in Georgia, but no.. We love alcohol, we love rock, and
we praise both, making stories around those two. We would say that those
stories are funny from our point of view..!
Is the communication with the crowd something
that you care about, in all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
Those two
are two different things. We really like to communicate with people, discuss
ideas over different matters that including our music. Talking with people
makes one more open minded, learning from each other, you know. As for the
music, well if we do not approve our music then we don't play it. We play what we
like, and we hope that others will like it too. There is nothing better than
people grooving with you in a gig, singing lyrics, headbanging, giving you the
energy to play.
Do you feel like you’re a part of a particular
“scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you are indifferent
about it?
We are part
of the greek rock scene, that we cannot deny. As every single band that plays
music out there, so do we believe that we can add something to that called “rock history”, in our own way. Express our
rock.
How do you imagine that the band will be in ten
years from now?
I think that we will
not change a thing. We will of course work on having some more LPs and EP s .
Probably have more friends around Greece, and Europe. I think that we will continue
playing in the same rehearsal room for a long long time, and keep driving the
same car to the venues needed!
Which famous artist you would like to do a
guest to a record of yours and why?
That's so hard to
chose.. Personally, I would say that I would love to work with Christian Peters
of Samsara Blues Experiment, so we could put down a great psychedelic song. You
know, like the B-Rex is on drugs, not drunk..
What plans do you have for the near future?
We want to play our
music in everywhere in Greece, so we can make sure everyone that likes rock in
this side of the world has tried a drink or two in Jurassic Bar. We are already
working on some ideas, putting down some new riffs and stuff, and we will
probably try to make a split in the near future (can't say more yet!). That is
all for the near future I think!
