We had the chance to speak with Spacement and we present you this mini interview to get to know the band a little better.
Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Hello Downtuned! We are Spacement, a psychedelic doom band from Athens,
Greece. We started around the summer of 2012, in a basement. We were in the
same university and decided to start a band expressing ourselves!
We are fans of the heavy sound, so our influences are Sleep, Om,
Electric Wizard and bands with this heavy fuzzy sound.
What’s your lyrics about? What
catches your interest?
Mostly we are concerned about how people feel doomed and trapped, within
their bodies and they leave their soul abandoned, not trying to free themselves
from it.
Is the communication with the
crowd something that you care about, in all levels, or do you do music for
yourselves?
Of
course we care about communicating with the crowd, but mainly we like to
express ourselves from our music, and that make us feel full.
Do you feel like you’re a part
of a particular “scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you
are indifferent about it?
The greek underground stoner/doom scene is getting bigger and bigger
every year, and we are glad to be a part of it! There are so many bands that
play awesome music, who wouldn't like to be a part of it?
How do you imagine that the
band will be in ten years from now?
I think we will have released a few records by then, and hopefully more
people will know us. Also we hope that we will make a tour in the rest of
Europe.
Which famous artist you would
like to do a guest to a record of yours and why?
We would prefer Billy Anderson to work with the production and recording
for a record! He knows all the secrets of the doom sound!
What plans do you have for the
near future?
We would like to make as many lives as possible, to promote our music
and sometime in the winter to start recording.
We wish you good luck to
whatever you’re doing, the epilogue is yours.
Thanks for
the invitation! Just stay fuzzy and doom on!
