Three years after their previous EP, Screaming Dead Balloons from Larissa, Greece are back with a Brand new EP titled "Cockroach's Vanity" which is also what the album's cover exactly depicts.
Three songs in the familiar noisy, psych-garage attitude and sometimes with a kraut-rock approach consist this small gem.
Personal favorite for many reasons, with the main ones being the lyrics and the tragic story behind them is the second song title "Mahsa Amini"which was the name of the Iranian girl that was brutally beaten and murdered by the police because she did not hide her hair well with the headscarf.
Here are the lyrics and credits for this particular song:
Music: Screaming Dead Balloons
lyrics/inspiration: Nodas Chrysos
guests: Lida Duru (backing vocals), Dimitris Stamatiadis (clarinet)
lyrics:
(Gasht-e-Ershad)
Shame- Your hair have grown so long
Your morals are gone
To waste
(Mahsa Amini)
Shame- Your God have grown so long
Your justice is gone,
To waste
(Gasht-e-Ershad)
Who- has given you the right
To challenge the one God
Like Sinner
(Mahsa Amini)
Who- has given you the Right
To murder
My freedom
(Gasht-e-Ershad)
Now- you're lying on the floor
Your hair won't grow long
Anymore
(Mahsa Amini)
Now- my legacy lives on
A thousand martyrs
We'll grow strong!
