We had a little chat with Fuel Eater. Get to know them better through this mini interview.
Welcome to DT. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Welcome to DT. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Hi guys and
thanks for the invitation! We met while
we were students in Patras. It all started in April 2012 when we decided to
start jamming. After a few months the first ideas came along and we began
writing music and doing some gigs. Along the way we have had some line – up
changes with a new bassist and a new vocalist joining while the second
guitarist left and was never replaced. So, we slowly began shaping our personal
sound.
Which are your musical influences?
The main
influence can only be Black Sabbath, but we are influenced also by bands such
as Kyuss, Clutch, Sleep, Fu Manchu, Down and many others. Greek bands like
Nightstalker, Planet of Zeus and 1000Mods are also among those who have a great
influence on us. Some blues background also helps.
What are your lyrics about? What catches your interest?
It is not
about something specific, but extends to various topics that either annoy us or
trouble us, making us want to ‘shout out’ or criticize! Most of the lyrics end
up being anti-systemic because we, mostly, write comes as a reaction to something
that we are opposed to.
Is the communication with the crowd something that you
care about, in all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
Of course making
music is primarily for yourself, but you cannot leave the crowd out of this
since it is the recipient of the messages our music carries. Also, when you
realize that the crowd appreciates your work (something that we ‘re slowly
starting to feel at our live performances) it makes you really happy and gives
you the will to to carry on and do even more things! Through the band’s
on-stage appearance, we try to communicate with the crowd at every gig, and help
the flow of energy between us.
Do you feel like you’re a part of a particular “scene”
in which you would like to join and contribute or you are indifferent about it?
Every band has
its own ‘personality’, but we are proud of being part of the Greek underground
scene. Also we are very proud to be members of our local scene, which has been
weakened during the last years. We hope the local scene of Patras will rise again to bring something the likes of Greece has never seen from our city.
How do you imagine that the band will be in ten years
from now?
Hmmm that’s a
really interesting question! I imagine that we will still be active and have
the same passion for what we do, as we do today.
Which famous artist you would like to do a guest to a
record of yours and why?
The obvious: Mr
John Garcia would be an interesting guest, especially on a specific track. Of
course the list goes on and on, with names such as Neil Fallon and Phil Anselmo
bring at the top of it. We would also like to feature friends as guest on our
record such as Andreas Kostas from Void Droid, Panos from Clamor of Existence
and Adonald from Forsaken Memoriam, because they are talented singers our the ascending
greek scene.
What plans do you have for the near future?
We are hitting
the studio at the end of November (2014) to record our debut full-length album
consisting of 9 tracks. Also performing live is another primary goal of us,
along with friends and awesome bands, in Athens, Patras and other Greek cities,
soon to be announced!
We wish you good luck to whatever you’re doing, the
epilogue is yours.
Thank you for the beautiful interview and we look forward to seeing you
at one of our upcoming gigs!
