We had the chance to chat with "Anal Veritas" and we present you this mini-interview. Enjoy!
Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
The band started back in 2002
when Nikos (bass) and Paris (drums) started jamming at the famous "Sub
Studios". In late 2003, Sotiris (guitars) and Tassos (guitars) joined the band
and the band the four of us name the baby band Anal Veritas after some months
Thanasis joined the band as the vocalist and that’s the original line up till
now. Nikos, Sotiris and Tassos were friends from 1995 when they were playing in
bands of that era like "κιτρινα φυλλα" and "desperate cry" and with lots of
other projects, jams and drinks. 2003 was the time to join forces Nikos' friends, Paris and Thanasis and met them to Sotiris and Tassos.
Which are your musical influences?
We don’t have a specific
influence, it's a mix from bands like Metallica, Slayer, Isis, Deftones, Pantera, from punk and hardcore scene and also the industrial scene and bands like Ministry, White Zombie,
Rob Zombie and many many more.
What are your lyrics about? What catches your interest?
Lyrics are about religion, politics, inner fears of man and feelings in general. Our interest is around humanity,
realism fear and feelings. Also there are moments of sentiment and moments of "violence" in Anal
Veritas' lyrics.
Is the communication with the crowd something that you care about, in
all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
Yes it is and it's very important
too. We have some bad critics in our history about how much we make fun with our
crowd and how much we speak with our audience from the reporters but you know
that’s the underground.
Do you feel like you’re a part
of a particular “scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you
are indifferent about it?
We are a part of the Athenian
underground scene we hope that we have contributed till now and that we’ll
continue to do it.
How do you imagine that the
band will be in ten years from now?
We’ll have more beards maybe
white and bigger bellies.
Which famous artist you would
like to do a guest to a record of yours and why?
Hmmm, we can’t answer "one" but a few like James Hetfield of 86-89.I think Thannasis would wanted Anselmo and for
sure Aaron Turner from Isis and
Scot Kelly from Neurosis.
What plans do you have for the near future?
We are ready to write our second
album that we hope to release it in early 2015 and do some gigs outside Athens
and maybe rest of Greece.
We wish you good luck to
whatever you’re doing, the epilogue is yours.
Thank you for the support all
these years we won’t disappoint as long as you support the underground scene as
you do (for the fans).
