We had tha chance to talk with Void Droid from Greece and we present you the interview below in order to learn more about them.

Welcome to Downtuned. Tell us a few words about the group, when and where did you get started? How did you meet?
Hello there, thank you for having us. Void Droid is a heavy rock/southern metal band based in Patras-Greece. The band was an idea of our drummer (Haris) and our guitarist (Bill Herra) who were talking about creating a band for a while. On the October of 2012 Petros (Bass) was added to the party but still no vocals in the team. Then we thought of Andreas the vocalist of Haris' other band (Asphodel) and with a little patience we convinced him (he was hesitant at first) to join us. We had like 3 songs of our own playing when our current bass player (Ulmo) joined and then we started experimenting with our sound. So.. thats pretty much the story of it.

Which are your musical influences?
Well all of us have different tastes in music but again so similar too. We all seemed to be really into some groovy southern metal stuff so thats the reason we end up playing this kind of music. But again thats the special ingredient for a band to make music that the world and the band of course likes.

What’s your lyrics about? What catches your interest?
Our songs are all about characters and their stories, they all have a big story to tell or a big story that is being told about them. We basically want to have different topics to talk about in every other song, like greed, feminine sexual power, racism, unfulfilled dreams, etc and all of them through a character we make up. This is our current thinking about lyrics.

Is the communication with the crowd something that you care about, in all levels, or do you do music for yourselves?
We all started playing for ourselves, just to have fun and enjoy some time in the studio playing some nice tunes, but  when you go on stage and you see even "one" head banging you know its not only for you , someone over there is breaking his neck by the sound of your music. Since we had some gigs and we saw that people liked what we do we are trying to get better in any way. Im not saying we are just some jokers performing tricks on stage and we have to entertain someone, but if you want to keep playing your music , play it right and make the person under the stage like it. So yeah, the communication with the crowd is a big deal for us and we want to please more than ourselves with our music.

Do you feel like you’re a part of a particular “scene” in which you would like to join and contribute or you are indifferent about it?
We can say that currently we play in the Greek Undreground  Scene. Underground concerts are awesome, we love playing them, but a band must reach high and this is what we are trying to do.

How do you imagine that the band will be in ten years from now?
If we are still together , lets hope we would be a band with a strong discography which has played with some big names and has a lot of supporters. Things are not that well in Greece in any way , especially with bands, only few and good can survive in such a long time.

Which famous artist you would like to do a guest to a record of yours and why?
There are many artists we love, but we would choose Daniel Gildenlow from Pain Of Salvation. Why ? He is a genius.

What plans do you have for the near future?
We are going to play at the "Traiblazer Unplugged Experiment" on the 8th of May , this is going to be so much fun. It will show a completely different face of the band , people in Athens cant miss this one. There are some gigs TBA in April and May but we still cant tell for sure about some. The band's ultimate goal is the recording of an LP, we will try to make it happen in the near future, that's for sure.

We wish you good luck to whatever you’re doing, the epilogue is yours.
We would like to thank you for the interview, everyone who is reading it, every band that helped us (you know who you are), and everyone who supports us !
Thank you all very much and take care. We are the Droids You're looking for.
